The Energy Story
The Energy Story, made by the government of California, gives information about renewable and nonrenewable energy resources. A good review about the different kinds and comparing them. Key chapters are:
Chapter 6: Generators, Turbines and Power Plants - Nonrenewable
Chapter 8: Fossil Fuels - Coal, Oil and Natural Gas - Nonrenewable
Chapter 9: Natural Gas Distribution System - Nonrenewable
Chapter 10: Biomass Energy - Renewable
Chapter 11: Geothermal Energy - Renewable
Chapter 12: Hydro Power - Renewable
Chapter 13: Nuclear Energy - Fission and Fusion - Nonrenewable
Chapter 14: Ocean Energy - Renewable
Chapter 15: Solar Energy - Renewable
Chapter 16: Wind Energy - Renewable
Chapter 17: Renewable vs. Nonrenewable - Environment & Air Quality - Renewable & Nonrenewable

For our last day of the unit the most important chapter from "The Energy Story" is Chapter 17. It compares renewable and nonrenewable energy, giving positives and negatives for each side. For example, you might think there's nothing wrong with solar energy but it would cost almost four times as much as natural gas to produce enough electricity to power California. That's a big con for people on a budget!
